Hansen Ranch to Dell. 53 miles, our longest mileage day yet. 25 miles and 5 hours to the high peak for the day. Then down through the spectacular sheep creek valley. The scenery is very different, with tall walls of rock and erosion creating nooks, crannies, and caves. We saw 3 fishermen who pointed out A mother black bear with two cubs headed up the valley. Dell gas station for food but the camping on our map was no longer open. We had a choice to carry-on eight more miles or to book a cabin. All of a sudden we had crazy winds and a little bit of rain but the sand and dust were crazy. The smoke was thicker from a fire west of here. We booked a little cabin from the gas station attendant. Bought beans and eggs and toast for dinner. It was a cozy evening in a cozy cabin.
