I have a rather long list of people we’ve interacted with in the last three days who are incredibly kind. We will post more details at a later date but here’s a quick synopsis. It is Monday morning and Tara and I are getting ready to hit the trail. Mimi has returned to Boston. Late Friday afternoon her “pearl the surly girl” bicycle bucked and reared to avoid a pothole on a long downhill section of a gravel road. She bucked Mimi off, resulting in a concussion, a broken collarbone and a broken thumb. Mimi is tough as nails and the most positive attitude I’ve ever seen. As a critical care nurse, she provided great instruction on her care while we waited for our Garman in reach mini SOS to be responded to. An amazing young man came along with a big truck and was incredibly kind, to bring me our bicycles and all our gear to the town with the hospital - Fernie, British Columbia. The rescuers were kind, the hotel owner bought us ice cream yesterday And said it was critical to healing. The hospital staff and doctors were wonderful. A Young woman who was employed at the bike shop in Fernie, who packaged up Mimi‘s bike, arranged to have her dad drive Mimi three hours back to the Calgary airport last night. Strangers truly are kind in this world. So Tara and I are hitting the trail from Fernie and should enter the United States in northern Montana in 2 to 3 days. We are waiting to hear about Mimi‘s surgery schedule. So, we lived up to our name TLC ( a.k.a. tender loving care and three ladies cycling) on the great divide, and although Tara and I are continuing, we have regretfully become Two Ladies Cycling. More later.

Oh no—poor Mimi!! To train so hard, only to have dreams shattered so quickly. It is heartwarming to hear of the kindness you ladies were given. I’m sure it’s very difficult to continue on your journey without your dear friend and fellow ninja. Prayers for Mimi’s quick recovery and for you and Tara’s continued safety!
