Tuesday 9/6 44 miles from Polaris to Hansen Ranch. 748 miles. We had a Big breakfast with Laurie and Greg. Greg made burritos (venison sausage?) and we had our fill of coffe, yea, fruit, OJ, toast with butter and homemade jam. We didn’t want to leave! Greg is an ER Doc so we were able to talk with him about the accident. We appreciated his knowledge, comments and thoughts that we all did everything right. Then we went through our first aid kit as I am always looking to drop weight! It was after 11 AM when we left and we very much appreciated the rest. We planned to stop at the post office to pick up a map thatLarry had mailed and I was posting a bunch of things home as I continue to try to drop the weight on my bike. post office to see if our next map had arrived that Larry had sent. I’m fortunately due to the holiday, it was not there but I was able to post a package of “excess stuff” home. A shirt, battery, bike light, misc other stuff not needed. Then we used the outhouse connected directly to the post office. See the photo - for real! It had a very big spider in it. As we left for a 20 mile flat road to the state Tara became the the engine with 3 train cars record time to Bannack state park. Lunch of burritos Laurie packed fruit tea. Wind, dry air, sage brush map delivery by Laura, changed to grass prairie. Stopped at bar in Grant . 4 ice creams with caramel sauce, 3 sodas and a beer. Very interesting people. Friendly and good service. E we had risen in the wind, felt like a furnace. Lips, mouth, skin all dry. If we wetted our sleeves, they were dry in minutes. We went 7 additional miles to the Hansen Ranch. They had an into sign allowing bursts to camp at the ranch. Spectacular sunset. We made our Dinners sitting on a hay wagon trailer. A big yellow dog is here but no people. We rated the shower, complete with fresh towels, a nine on our bathroom scale. It would have been a “10” if it also had a glass of wine in the the shower!

I concur with Greg, the TLC were the best first responders ever!!! I am missing riding with them everyday but so happy to have this forum to share their experience vicariously !
